The Journey
My last three experiences in the field.
As a leader in both the graphic and product realms, my role at Pine involved spearheading the development of global applications and websites, overseeing the entire process from conceptualization to animation and 3D rendering. I was entrusted with the creative direction, responsible for executing briefings for a wide range of tasks including branding, social media, video production, and digital products.
Collaborating within a dynamic and culturally diverse team to continually enhance the leading customer experience software on the market. My responsibilities encompass the entire design process, spanning from in-depth research analysis and creative ideation to meticulous wireframing, proper application of the design system, and the creation of a comprehensive user interface and prototype.
Leading a high-performing team of six international product designers across four countries, focused on delivering user-centered solutions. I drive the development of complex page-level frameworks in CX workspaces, ensure accessibility best practices, and implement workflow automation and Agile methodologies to enhance team efficiency and productivity.
Testimonials
Rick is a firecracker. I've seen him grow leaps and bounds in the time that I've managed him. He's got tremendous talent for developing designers, building a performance culture, and organizational communication. I appreciate his incredible work ethic, commitment to the team, and willingness to take feedback and grow. He will also emoji react to your jokes in Teams, and we all know that is a KEY quality in a colleague. I would hire him again and again.
I had the chance to work with Rick when he led our UX team, and I'm genuinely grateful for that experience. As a manager, he brought a clear vision but also made space for new ideas, which created an environment where I felt both challenged and empowered. He helped me grow not just through feedback, but by trusting me with bigger responsibilities and encouraging me to explore areas outside my comfort zone. That trust and support made a real difference in how I see my own capabilities today. If you’re looking for someone who values people, process, and progress equally, Rick brings all three. My time on his team made a lasting impact on my career, and definitely raised the bar for what good management can look like.
Rick is the type of manager who will give you space and, at the same time, will be there for you, helping you grow, empowering you, and keeping an open door for conversations. He builds an environment of trust. I had the privilege of being promoted with Rick being my manager, and that growth happened through genuine support and partnership. From the beginning, I felt truly welcomed and safe to develop. His leadership style encourages confidence, offers guidance without micromanaging, and makes a real difference in people's growth. I’m very grateful for all his support.
Working with Rick was an absolute pleasure. I handed over multiple UX projects to him which he always translated into user interfaces matching the clients absolute needs. His skills go far beyond his creative expertise, always prepared to present his work on a way which is perfectly understandable even for people who never heard about design. I really enjoyed working together with him.
When I'm not working
In summary, I'm a nerd who loves dogs.
Hanging out with Kenai
This is my best friend Kenai. Dogs are my favorite things in the world – easily. He also has an Instagram.
Music
My first career choice was to be a musician. I went to music school and played in a lot of bands. I still play the bass and drums sometimes.
Tabletop RPGs
Well, way before Stranger Things made it a cool thing, I played TTRPGs with my friends – and we even play in livestreams sometimes.
Reading
Reading is one of my favorites hobbies – especially fiction. I try to reach the 1-book-per-week mark every year.
